Pecha Kucha, from Hamburg meeting to Grenoble meeting

What happened on the road between Hamburg and Grenoble?
It's time to look back in the mirror and to look at the distance I travelled so far.

slide2

I'm increasing my experience about Dance as an art, attending shows and thinking more and more about the links between Dance and writing : how to put the body language into words, as close as possible.

slide 3

In February, I attended a festival organised by the Pacifique. This experience resulted in writing a short story. So you would read about a character named Lambda who doesn’t know a thing about Contemporary Dance. He will try and express from a novice point of view about his feelings and understandings of it.

slide 4

After that, I wanted to dive deeper into this Dance field and to discover the B-Motion festival, at Bassano del Grappa, as part of my Personal Mobility. It also was the way to confront my writing to another Dance event. I once again decided to invite Lambda in order for me to continue his story and to go deeper into his life.

slide 5

I also continued to explore theatre writing. I chose this image because for me this exploration was always a dialogue between the floor and the sky, between something very accessible (by that I mean humorous, burlesque) and something really poetic, conceptual.

slide 6

I wrote a theatre play and we performed it last May. This is the story of a young and mute woman who only expresses herself tap-dancing, in a strange and dreamlike world. It has been an important step in my reflexion on what kind of theatre I want to write about.

slide 7

I also participated in the creation of a play for another company. For the first time, I didn’t take part into writing the script and simply put into words what the actress and director wanted. It's a funny story of a 50’s housewife listening to a cooking radio program in her kitchen. Further, it’s the story of Femininity jailed into the American way of life and her emancipation.

slide 8

Back in Hamburg, I was on the way of finishing translating a Spanish book. Its publication in July was for me a hard work’s well deserved reward. This experience permitted me to create a link between both my interest for Spanish language and civilisation and for writing.

slide 9

At that point, also, I was still processing about knowledge transmission. For me this image expresses the position I want to have when I’m acting this role: focusing the attention but only to help opening perspective.

slide 10

I taught Spanish for few months in high school, in that way. My wish was to arouse the pupils curiosity toward others cultures and people.

It also made me think about the wear of an old established educational system and some ways to change it.

slide 11

I also taught rock climbing and it's interesting to see how children develop a different behaviour when they’re outside of an institution. This made me question myself on how to renovate the French educational system in order to make children prefer learning on life than just getting good marks?

I’m still thinking about it though…

slide 12

After that, I got aware of some wrong directions I chose in my life. So I decided to really put my energy in what I like. I put teaching in an institution aside for a moment and chose to use more time to write and to dig deeper into the artistic field.

slide 13

I’m also taking part into building a new theatre company, with a new artistic direction. The idea is to be more in relation with human feelings and life questioning, more committed, but always on a humorous way.

slide 14

I decided to build bridges, trying to connect my different interests as I felt the need to improve the relation between both my body and writing. That led me to attend theatre classes based on a corporal approach. It will also be a way, later, to teach theatre classes myself and to be more aware on acting direction.

slide 15

I’m now beginning to think about some new theatre projects, but also dance and theatre mixed ones.

I also decided to follow the translation line because it forces us to be precise with the language and master of our creative side. It's an eternal equilibrium between what the author wanted to say, how he chose to say it, how you receive it as a reader and how you best choose to transmit it into your cultural field.

As a result, I'm beginning an academic work on Mexican poetry and how multilingualism can influence the writing and further, the translation.

I also started a Spanish translation of the play « The cooker » I talked about earlier. The audience liked it. The idea now is to export it to Spain.

In the end I really decided to always keep this door opened, opened to new projects and new experimentations.
